The main objective of the Forum is to bring together the main partners and stakeholders to exchange and consider the future common vision of strengthening research and innovation in the Western Balkans. The general aim is to develop a sustainable economy and social cohesion, but also to start closing the currently large gap between this part and the rest of Europe. 

Among the participants are representatives of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), the European Commission (EC) - Directorate General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina - Berlin Process – Joint Science Conference, the Council of Europe,  the European Institute for Innovation and Technology (EIT), but also representatives of the governmental institutions, as well as of the research and industry communities in the Western Balkans.
